Summary of Candidate Professional/Civic Background:
I grew up in College Station and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1967.
I subsequently attended Sam Houston State University and graduated in May of 1971 with a BBA in Business. I was commissioned in the US Army upon graduation.
I served for 12 years with duty in Germany, Turkey, and the United States.
While on active duty I completed a second degree in accounting from Cameron University.
After my medical discharge from the Army, I purchased a Comprehensive Business Services franchise, and went into business with a bookkeeping, tax and consulting practice. I qualified for a license as an Enrolled Agent (EA) which is a taxpayer representative to the IRS. Practicing as an EA requires a depth of knowledge of our tax system.
I sold my practice after 7 years in 1991 and went to work for my largest client, a residential new construction plumbing company. I worked mostly in several construction accounting positions as Controller, or as a tax professional until I retired in 2015.
I ran for office in the 113th House District in 1992. I was a member of the Garland Area Democratic Club. I served as President for a year, and as treasurer for many years.
I am married to the love of my life Beth, and I have two adult children and a granddaughter.
Why would you be an effective leader in this role?
I have 12 years of service in the Army, and 40 years experience in business. I am Enrolled to Practice Before the IRS (EA) which requires an in depth knowledge of taxation.
What are three platform points that are important to you?
Kitchen Table issues. The economy and inflation.
The weakening of our constitutional system. Donald Trump and the Republicans are slowly eroding our constitutional systems of checks and balances.
