Summary of Candidate Professional/Civic Background:

I have a master’s degree in English and educational administration, and twelve years of experience as a classroom teacher in grades 7-12 ELA. I also worked in higher education as the Assistant Director of Study Abroad at Lamar University, and I currently manage an online tutoring business where I’ve taught hundreds of kids from all over the U.S. and abroad.

Why would you be an effective leader in this role?

I believe it’s my boots on the ground experience as an educator that makes me an effective leader for this role. For too long decisions about education have been made by people without education experience, and it’s time to put educators back in charge of the field.

What are three platform points that are important to you?

My biggest platform points are ensuring a curriculum that is balanced, objective, and not influenced in political or religious ideology; properly funding our education system that has been underfunded for too long, and maintaining local control of our school ISDs.
